Walk Cycle Planning Tips

Hey all,

I’m in a challenge involving a walk cycle, so I thought it would be a good idea to keep tabs on my planning & general workflow in the off chance someone finds it useful. (Even if you find out a bunch of stuff you don’t want to do!)

I can’t promise a lot of ground breaking news or techniques, but I try to illustrate some tried & true planning methods to the best of my ability.

I hope you find it useful, & check back as I will be posting more as I continue working on it! Let me know what you think!

I saw that challenge on Animation Forum as well, I will certainly be joining!

If anybody else is interested, here’s the challenge:

Sweet! Look forward to seeing what you come up with Will.

Nolan got in on it too with a really cool toon of his.

Here’s what I’m working with so far, the arms still need work, but the shoulders are diong basically what I want them to. Might drop the 2nd exposure of a couple frames & add a breakdown or two, but I don’t think I want to add any frames to the walk itself, I’m afraid it will be too slow then.

Hope to see more people join in the challenge, it’s great practice!
