I have been using the save new version option regularly, thinking that this would keep my previous file versions intact. I recently discovered this is not the case - if I make drawing changes, these are shared by all versions within a project.
Do I really have to create a new project each time I want to version up?
Use version saving when the assets will remain the same (i.e. for timing changes/scene planning changes). If you add/delete or fundamentally change elements then it is better to simply copy the project’s folder to work on the copy - leaving the original intact.
