unable to quickswap to the dropper tool while drawing

Hi, this might be a very easy fix. I want to be able to hold down the option key to quickly choose colors from my current frame while painting. I’m unable to find a way to make this work in the preferences, though I found a document stating that toon boom does have this ability. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

Ben

Try the “D” key… for quick-switching…
Try “option+D” for selecting the Dropper-Tool…

Thanks for the reply Nolan - the D key seems to disable the current layer, and option d brings up the dropper tool, but doesn’t work for quickly picking up a color while you are painting. I’m hoping for the same quick color selection photoshop has, hold down option to bring up the dropper tool momentarily and then release it to go back to the brush tool. It gets time consuming bringing up the dropper tool and then switching back to the brush tool. If it helps, I’m working on a mac.

When the Timeline is in focus the “D” key will indeed disable any selected layer(s)…
When the Viewport is in focus the “D” key should switch to the dropper-tool…
A thin red outline indicates which particular view is in focus…

You might like and check “focus on mouse enter” in the general preferences…
