Ultimate noob question - frames not changing

Hi, I’m using Toon Boom Studio 5.

Watched a number of tutorials and I’m really really stuck…

I’ve spent 2 hours trying to make a circle move from the left to the right of the screen over 20 frames. Every time I copy and paste the circle to a new frame, then move the circle it also moves the circle in all the other frames.

I’ve read through the ‘cartooning in toon boom’ site and I can’t find the answer to this super simple noob question.

Please help me please please!!! I can’t bear to spend another 2 hours on this problem.

If you like, here is a short video demonstration:

(no sound, it’s all very self-explanatory)

Please have a look at “JK’s” excellent Introduction to “Cartooning in Toon Boom”:

Thanks for the super quick reply Nolan. I watched your tutorial and read the Cartooning in Toon Boom for another for an hour. I’m still stuck though.

I made a video of my problem and uploaded it here >>

It looks to me like I’m doing the same thing as in your tutorial, except that mine doesn’t move when I scrub the timeline.

Ideas?

Well, you’re using the Select-Tool (1) from the Drawing-Tool-Panel…

Please use the Transform-Tool (7) from the Sceneplanning-Tool-Panel…

If in doubt, go to “Tools” and from the drop-down choose the correct Tool…
(in no time you’ll select the right tool by heart…)

Alright - I figured it out finally!

Needed to use the Transform tool (instead of the select tool) to move the objects about and then they start moving in the timeline. Phew!
