IF you started a scene and need to trim the beginning down is that possible? I want the keep the latter part of the animation, but cut and paste is a bit cumbersome.

Are you able to simply go to the place in your timeline where you want things to start, collapse everything in your layers, and set a key frame there.
Then, delete the frames you don’t want and hit F7 (I think?) and delete them?

You can also try to select the part that you want to trip, then go to the top menu, to Scene > Frame > Remove Selected Frames
