text doesn't blur in bitmap layer

I just converted a vector layer that has text in it to bit map layer then applied blur layer filter . Everything blurs as you would expect but the text doesn’t . This means I have to undo everything and draw the text in by hand to achieve the result ( not desirable )

Feature request - is it possible to get a couple of blur options in future like photoshop .? Motion blur , radial blur rotational blur etc all with a selectable focal point. thanks .

Text is a special case, it remains a vector shape until you use the menu-Tools-Convert-Break apart Text Layer. Do this twice until you can’t break apart the text anymore (works like it does in Flash). After doing this you will notice that your text is no longer so hard-edged. Now you can convert to bitmap layer and blur it.
