Why, When I put the mouse on the workspace, does it show me a “forbidden” sign and I cannot click nor select anything ?
Because of this I am totally stuck.

Try first selecting a cel (frame) of a drawing layer in the timeline.
If that doesn’t help, try rebooting the system to flush the cache.
