Hi! I’m wondering if anyone knows the best way to select an object hidden by the cutter tool. I find this to be an issue particularly when I have too many layers.

I’m confused.
I think you mean hidden by a drawing layer.
If you want to work on one layer just use the drawing view. (and turn off “preview all art layers”)
When working in the camera view, you can just disable layers that hide objects you want to select.
Why not select the object from the timeline where it should be visible if it connected to a network that contains a Display module.
