Scale individual IK bones?

Is there a way to scale an arm bone along the bone length without changing the width? I’m using IK instead of deformer bones because it’s easier to keep adding new drawings in straight ahead animation. With deformers the new (next) drawing is too distorted to see what I’m doing, so I’m going back to the old IK.

If you have a peg attached edit the peg and select “separate” under the scaling section (otherwise do it in the element itself). You should also be able to do this using the scale tool visually with either the parent peg or element’s keyframe selected (depending on which one you want to use to apply the scaling factor).
