Hi there. Im very new to toonboom animate and am having difficulty finding a way to manually save the workspace. Apparently you should be able to go to Window > Workspace > save workspace, however I don’t see this option. Could simon please point me in the right direction
Thank you.
By default, when you modify the look of a workspace, it is automatically saved. If you prefer to keep your workspaces as they are and only save the modifications when you really want to, you have to disable the Automatically Save Workspace preference.
To disable the Automatically Save Workspace preference:
- In the top menu, select Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Animate Pro > Preferences (Mac
OS X) to open the Preferences panel.
- Go to the General tab.
- In the Save section, disable the Automatically Save Workspace preference.
Press the OK button.
The Save Workspace button appears in the Workspace toolbar.
To save a workspace manually:
- In the Workspace toolbar, click on the Save Workspace button.
You can also select Windows > Workspace > Save Workspace.
You can save your workspace as a new version to avoid over-writing the current one.
To save your workspace as a new version:
- Select Windows > Workspace > Save Workspace As.
The Save Workspace As dialog box opens.
-
In the text field, enter the new workspace name.
- Click on the OK button to validate.
Thank you Nolanscott for your responce. I have disabled the auto save option because I would prefer to only save the modifications when I chose to. However I cannot see the option to to manually save the workspace.
When going to: Windows > Workspaces There is no option to Save Workspace. There is only the workspace manager and the workspace selection menu. Is this only an option available in Animate Pro? I am using Animate 3. The instruction you gave are also shown in the Animate 3 documentation. I assume that means It should be available. Do you know of any other way to manually save it? If not I guess I’ll just have to save it as a separate workspace.
Well, I am not aware that the “Save Workspace” option is not available in Animate 3 ?
In the Workspace Manager have you created a new Workspace and moved it over into the
Workspace Toolbar using the Right Arrow button ? Clicked the OK button…
Either, you should be able now to save your new Workspace via the Windows Menu,
Or, just tick the Save Workspace button in the Toolbar…

Yes thank you. I am able to create a new workspace from the toolbar and the workspace manager. I just couldn’t find the option to do it from the Windows menu.
This is how mine looks:
