Render view not showing deformation

I just downloaded the trial for v16 and I’m applying a bone deformer to a simple rectangle.
The deformation appears normal in the opengl preview but does not show in the render view.
It like the deformer is turned off.

Can anybody explain why that might be happening?

link for the zipped scene folder to be able to investigate this issue.

It seems to have worked itself out. Don’t know how though.
