How to see the white background in the Render and play "?
so far we do with a solid in a separate layer.
be changed from the preferences?

Onion skin
Can we prevent solids or imported images do not obscure the other images of the layer?

Click on the “Add Layer” button in the timeline and add a Colour Card for the white background.

There’s no way to turn off the onion skin just for one drawing, so I’d recommend that you import your images onto their own layer so that you don’t face this issue in your onion skin.
