Hi All -
my xp system crashed a horrible death requiring me to reinstall a fresh copy of windows… was able to reinstall all the other software that refused to load following the new xp install, but for some reason TB will not … it installs (after removing the old copy), then when I go to load TB the splash crash requesting I press the continue button to execute - the TB splash screen appears for a few seconds, then nothing - I get sent right back to the desktop … I went out and bought a new pc - could not avoid it but had to get vista - will there be any issue with TB under vista … I am running TB 3.0 … thanks, Dan
Hi Dan,
There should not be any problem with installing on XP to start with. This might be related to the Renderer set by default. You can change it when you are in the splash screen by going to Edit>Preferences. Then go in the Display tab and change the Renderer from OpenGL to Direct3D.
Toon Boom Studio v3.0 was not actually tested on Vista so we cannot guarantee it will work properly. One thing for sure is that the installer is going to refuse launch since it won’t recognize the OS but you can bypass that by launching the installer in compatibility mode (right click>properties>Compatibility tab).
Hope this helps out.
Best regards,
Ugo
Hi Ugo -
Not sure if what i did was the solution or not, but it did finally load after numerous attempts … even though the guide indicated tb3 would work with quicktime 5 or greater, it did not seem to install until i deleted my version 7 quicktime and installed toonbooms … after that, the install went well and came up in a usable state …
In other news, I just upgraded to 3.5 and surprisingly, it installed on vista … I thought i remembered there had to be a patch installed or did the download i just purchased include the patch fix?
thanks, Dan
Hi Dan,
If you purchased the software after the patch was launched you automatically get the latest version of the application (patched one). This is why you did not have to patch it.
In any case hope you enjoy the new features.
Best regards,
Ugo
I didn’t have any trouble with Vista. I had to buy a faster computer (my XP couldn’t handle Toon Boom) and of course it came with Vista.
I had no problems, but it was 9 months ago so I can’t remember the exacxt procedures. I could have called tech support…regardless, it got resolved and worked fine.
