Im trying to cut away the eyes out of my character and make a layer out of it but when I hit f9 nothing happens. Does anyone know whats wrong or had this problem before?
Try Command or Control + F9.

If you are on a mac, the f-keys are media-keys.
Try to press cmd+fn(bottom left corner)+f9
If this does the trick, you can turn of the media-keys in the system preferences( applemeny).
You can also just press the fn key when you need the f-keys.

Make sure you’re in the Camera View. New layers can’t be created from the Drawing View.
