Hi I am new to animate and was doing the projects and while I was working ,I decided to check out the buttons and what they are for when I hovered over the Preview button on the bottom right corner of the stage , it said preview out of date click here to update, so I did and it never updates it just keeps saying “updating preview” is that the way it is supposed to work? there was a little round graphic there and now it is a check mark still updating ? is there an update for this feature? or is it a bug ?

Hi,
Once in preview mode the little clock logo shot go around and turn blue with a check once the preview is finished. If it does not seem to refresh try to move from drawing to drawing and press the clock to launch the render. It may take some time to complete depending on the complexity of your scene.
