Pixelated lines, need help

for some reason when I ink my lines appear pixelated on screen (in the drawing and camera views). I tried looking for solutions and everyone kept saying under Edit->Preferences->OpenGL, you can turn on real-time antialiasing and it should work but i looked in OpenGL and there wasn’t such a setting, can anyone help?

Well, in Toon Boom Animate / Preferences / OpenGL
you’ll find indeed “Real Time Antialiasing…

In Toon Boom Studio / Preferences / Display
you’ll find “OpenGL Full Scene Anti-Aliasing”…

Like i said I don’t see a ‘Real Time Antialiasing’ in OpenGL, I tried the ‘Full Scene Antialiasing’ but it didn’t help

What are your system specifications ?

I’d post a picture of my screen to show you but I’m not sure how, basically everything else is exactly the same except I don’t have the Real Time Antialiasing,

Upload your image to one of the “Image Hosting Websites…
http://www.ebizmba.com/articles/image-hosting-websites
Then copy the “Link” here…

Using “Real Time Antialiasing” the software itself calculates the image on the fly…
If the software is busy with other calculations, this might slow down the whole process…

Using “Full Scene Antialiasing” might be a better option…?
It’s using your graphic card to calculate the antialiasing…

Be aware, not to activate both options at the same time, this might overload your system ?

If you’re on a Mac, choose the “Number of samples” carefully, start with 2 or 3…
If you’re on Windows, choose the antialiasing from the property panel of your graphic cards driver interface…

Restart the application after every change.

Well, you’re using Animate 3…
Real Time Antialiasing is still available in Animate 2, but not anymore in Animate 3…
Check your User Guide / Preferences / OpenGL Drawing Preferences…

The User Guild doesn’t say much about about it, only: “Everything you draw in Toon Boom Animate is vector-based. Although, when you draw in the Camera or Drawing view, you will notice that your lines may be jagged, this is caused by the fast real-time display called OpenGL. If you prefer to see smooth lines as you draw, you can enable the antialiasing.”

Try the online User Guide / Chapter 3 / Preferences / OpenGL Drawing Preferences:

That’s the one I looked at

I solved this problem enabling the antialiasing from my graphic card driver.

how do you do that?

It depends from your graphic card.
I have an ATI Radeon. In the Catalyst Control Center > Gaming > 3D application settings. Add…
…everything in the guide (graphic card guide).

Right. For some reasons, with Nvidia cards, we have to force the antialiasing process in the drivers.

thank you so much!! Enabling antialiasing was a HUGE lifesaver!
