Moving rigged chars in 3d space

Hi guys, sorry to be a pain but I can’t for the life of me figure out what I have done wrong.

I have rigged my chars with bone deformers on arms, legs and torso. When I go to top view in my perspective and go to move them backwards, my cut out parts of the body go backwards, but anything that has a bone deformer stays where it is.

Not aware of needing to enable 3d on any of those parts, as the parts that will go backwards do not have it enabled under layer properties.

Please help.

connect everything to a master peg (call it something like “charactername_master_peg”), and then move that peg back into Z.
