migrating libraries between various studio versions

howdy,
i searched a bit, but i haven’t found what i’m looking for:
a method to migrate my global library entries from the v3.0 into the v3.5.

i mean, i don’t havy much there, and i could eventually import the drawings into a 3.0 project, open it in the v3.5, and then drag the drawings into the 3.5 global library, but i doesn’t look like a viable option, especially for big library entries.

i checked the folders (under win xp): the v3.0 creates a non-editable name for a folder:
toonboom studio - global library 3.0’,
the v3.5 logically the non-editable folder name:
toonboom studio - global library 3.5’, the entries copies from the one folder to the other don’t work.

any idea?
cheers,
rob

I have had similar questions, the only thing suggested to me: Is to right click inthe right hand window of the Library and import Template files individually or select multiple files with the shift key and import .tbt files. I really don’t understand why the whole thing can’t be imported at one time? But far as I know, this is it?

The follow is from a previous post I made concerning moving library assets from v3.5 to V4.0 but it is equally applicable for moving V3.0 assets into V3.5

The basic process is to open the library from a previous version in the newer version and either save that old library as a new version library or drag and drop the templates from the old version’s library into the new version’s library and just save the new version’s library which will now include the old versions assets. This is all done inside the TBS application using the library management functionality. -JK

??? When I do as you suggest, I only receive an icon(book/catalog) with no content. Trying to import the In the Park Template

To open a library you do the following:

1. Start up the TBS application and open a project, new or existing.

2. Open the library panel

3. Move your cursor over the list of libraries and catalogs and right click to open the context menu.

4. choose the “open library” command

5. select and open the desired library from the file navigation dialog

6. Save your library and or your project

To import a template you do the following:

1. Start up the TBS application and open a project, new or existing.

2. Open the library panel

3. Move your cursor over the list of libraries and catalogs and click on the desired destination catalog in which you want to import the template

4. Move your cursor over the template navigation panel for that catalog (the big panel to your right of the catalog list) then right click to open the context menu.

5. choose the “import…> import template file” command

6. select and import the desired template from the file navigation dialog

7. Save your library and or your project

I suggest that you do not try moving or copying actual files between actual directories, library management must be done inside the Toon Boom application using the library management commands. Templates and catalogs are linked objects and that linkage can only be made by the software internally. -JK
