leopard to snow leopard on imac (2.4)

I intend to update from Leopard to snow Leopard . Is there anything at all to worry about on the update .
What is meant by “returning the product key ,” before doing the update?

Thanks again , Len.

It’s always a good idea (highly recommended) to back up your complete hard-drive…
Best would be to make a bootable clone of your 10.5 hard-drive…
(use SuperDuper (my preferred choice), CarbonCopyCloner or else…
(or at least have a TimeMachine backup)
If something should go wrong, one can always go back and install from the backup…

Are you going to upgrade 10.6 on top of 10.5…?
Then you don’t have to do anything, just go ahead…

Are you upgrading from scratch, deleting your hard-drive first, then install 10.6…
Then you should return your product key first before installing the new OSX…
Later install TBS and apply your license with the License-Wizard…

Hi Nolan
well my plan was to buy the snow upgrader, I have a fully updated machine running what Leopard is at now…which is 10.5.8 I see .

My machine is a 2.4 core 2 Imac.

I think all I do is put the ( Snow ) disc in and it runs the install.
I was running the same installation of My TB copy on a power book for a while and had no problems on that machine .(which is snow leopard.)
I don’t think I need even to back up although time machine is there just in case.

From what you say I guess I don’t need to do anything else. My fear was losing all my toon boom for the past quarter since I have a lot of time in on a project . I was worried snow leopard might raise some problems with tb after the update.

SO I shall go ahead and update then .

Haven’t heard much about problems using the 10.6 updater…
Just put the disk in and run the installer…
(just in case, you still have a TimeMachine backup)

Anyway, I would backup to disk or external hard-drive the Project-
and the Library-folder…

Maybe, do a “Repair Disk Permission” before and after Installation
with Disk Utility…

Major whoopsy at the Genius bar . I was initially told that I could upgrade leopard to snow for the 29$ disc. I was misinformed , I have to do the full recore and update at 129 bux .

Staying with leopard , unless it offers something to aid toon boom.

I was hoping to fix the slow down I experience with dense drawings.
