Layer won't disappear when unchecked

Hey,

I’m a newbie with Toon Boom, but have years of experience animating and directing both CG and traditional animation. I’ve been going through the tutorials and following along building my characters using a storyboard drawing for my template. The SB drawing is on layer one, my first character and layer two and my second on layer three.

My issue is that the character layers won’t hide when I uncheck their layer. The BG layer will appear and disappear as it is supposed to, but not the characters.

I’m using harmony Stand Alone version 9.2

Looks like I found the answer to my own question. For the character layers, both OVERLAY and UNDERLAY where checked in the menu above the layers. I unchecked them and all works as supposed to.
