Inserting a psd as a substitution drawing to existing layer.

Hello everyone.
Is there a way to insert a psd as a substitution drawing to an existing one? I am trying to change the image to an already animated scene and want to keep position, animation, scale, etc. so I thought of having it as a substitution drawing would be easy (and have the option to return to previous drawing also). How would you approach this?

You should be able to do that by selecting “add to existing layer” when importing the image. You might need to adjust size and position with previous/next drawings.
