Importing Illustrator files

I can’t import neither Illustrator files nor PDF files into Animate 2. (did everything according to the tuts, unlocked the library etc.) Just nothing would happen…
I don’t know, if there is already a thread about this problem, I’m kind of missing a search function in this forum…
Thanks for any hints / solutions.

Make sure the Illustrator files are saved in “Legacy” format…
And check the option make “PDF compatible”…

I’ve tried with all illustrator versions back to illustrator 8. Unfortunatly that doesn’t help. Animate wouldn’t either import swf files or PFD into the template library. To me it feels like a bug… should i, maybe, try to reinstall Animate?

Thanks for your replies

Are there any special or accented characters in your file name ?
Keep the file name simple, try without spaces…

Otherwise…
Quit Animate… drag the preference file into the trash… Restart…
(be aware, all your personal settings will be lost) Does that work…?

Or, you might and try a fresh reinstall…

I presume you have checked those Tutorials ?

What platform are you on?
Are you on English operating system? Could you have special non english letters?
Do you have Animate 2 trial or regular one?
Are your colors in CMYK?
Try to put the files you want to import in another location with a short path with no space in the folder names.
Are you importing from a local disk?

I just solved the problem:
I work on MAC on an english OS and i do generally use underscores in my file structure. After i created a new folder directly on the desktop with the illustrator files in the same folder as the project folders and used names without underscores i could import ai files.

So: the problem is not only the underscore in the filename but the ENTIRE FILE PATH.

Thank you both for your help!
