Importing Adobe illustrator files into Harmony

I can not figure out out how to import Adobe Illustrator files into Harmony. I have the 10.0 version.

Apparently this should work in Animate, Animate Pro and Harmony…

Hey, This hasn’t worked for me (on harmony), and i’ve read on other forums that you can’t use .qs codes in harmony? Does anyone have or know of one that actually works in Harmony and can guide me through it?

Thankyou!

When I try to do what the video says I get an error

File: ‘/Users/bjwiberg/Documents/Dog Sketch Vector.ai’ could not be imported

Remove all spaces, accented and special characters from the filename or the path where you are importing the Illustrator file from and the import will likely work.

For the best results save your Illustrator file to be compatible with Illustrator 10 because that’s the last version of Illustrator that Adobe made public so the features that apply to newer versions only can’t be interpreted.

Was this ever resolved?
I am experiencing the same problem.

Apparently you did not notice this advice I had posted ealier…

i am stuck in importing illustrator file in harmony 10.3
plz plz any body help me

I don’t know of this problem. I only have Animate Pro 3 which usually behaves identically to Harmony with the features the two programs share between each other. Harmony 10.3 was quite similar to Animate Pro 3. I have successfully imported Illustrator files selecting the earlier Illustrator version format as suggested by someone in a previous post.

What Illustrator version format are you exporting as?
Can you upload it somewhere that I can access to experiment with?

here is my file link

illustrator file is in cs2 ver.

i do same as i read instruction befor
but not importing layers in harmony 10.3

OK

You are using Adobe Cloud? Can you provide a CS 5 version? <= Hold off on this I see layers so it will probably work.

I am downloading this now and will let you know what I did with it. It may already have something done incorrectly when you made the CS2 version file. That is why I am asking for the most up to date version I can handle. I have CS5.

I think you may have something in Preferences unchecked.

Preferences => Advanced => check PDF/Illustrator Import as Separate Layers (10.3 may not have this option)
http://docs.toonboom.com/help/harmony-10.3/#HAR/Stage/009_Import/036_H1_Preferences_.html#importandcapture_4118722476_1050114

See Animate Pro 3 Preferences
http://docs.toonboom.com/help/animate-pro/Content/HAR/Stage/009_Import/036_H1_Preferences_.html#importandcapture_4118722476_1050114

This is what I was able to do:

Following the advice of cgason from a thread here… first I opened the file in Illustrator CS5 and looked at everything to see what I was dealing with. The multiple layers were present. I did a Save As .ai file and when prompted chose CS2. When I imported that file in Animate Pro 3 everything was on a separate layer.

I did the same using CS instead of CS2 just for an experiment.

Then I did the same thing using your original file sent to me without altering it or Saving As anything. It also opened in Animate Pro 3 with all of the layers.

When importing I am not doing anything to the Toon Boom software once I unlock the Library with Right To Modify.

Judging from this thread importing Illustrator layers was not possible so a script was created then became obsolete when an update was released. So there appears to be an in between stage where the software cannot do it.

You may have to run them through Photoshop to get the layers which is possible in Harmony 10:

first i am very thanx to you on replying me and help me
but i had try all scripts and also go to in prefrences for check “support cmyk in pdf/illustrator import”
but i am not succes to import this in seperate layers
and i am using Illustrator cc 2014 and from this i modify in cs and cs2 ver.
now what can i do for this
in harmony 10.3

I received luck after deleting my body layer (+an arm) then pressing cntrl+z.
Prior to the move, my character was transparent and difficult to work with.

The transform tool [] was also of a better service than the select tool.
