Import image script

I’m trying to find the function to import an image, I can only find import sound and import movie. I’m trying to import PNG files, but information on importing psd files as layers would also be useful to get a better understanding of what’s going on.

I am also looking for a js script call to import images. So far in the documentation I cannot find it under files, nodes, create, or any other conceivable class. The existing scripts call on other .js or .py files that are indecipherable to me. Is there a function in scripting to import an image?

How get import action algorithm (image and movie) for rewriting directory path and finding there .movfile and finding all image automatically?
