How to use cutter tool

I know how to use the cutter tool, but I would like to know if there is a way to use it without losing the black pencil outline around drawn characters?

Hi,

I am not quite sure but if you want to simply remove the filling of a shape without affecting the outline you could either unpaint the zone you want to empty or use the select tool and delete the filling.
