I’ve received a character rig from a vendor that I imported into my scene as a .tpl.
It has a master controller for the face, but the design of the characters face needs to be tweaked slightly. I can manually manipulate deformers to get the face on-model, but if I use the master controller, it uses values that don’t look quite right.
Is there a way to edit the positions of the master controller?
I don’t see the keyframes on the artwork layers that would be used to define the original master controller, so I’m afraid I may not be able to edit it.
It would be a shame to not be able to use the master controller at all, but if I can’t edit the designs slightly, then I believe it’ll be useless.
Thanks for any tips!
Hi,
Is your Master Controller a slider or a 2d point grid?
In any case, you will have to create a new MC.
In order to be able to store poses within your new MC, you’ll have to manually expose them first in the Timeline via your existing MC.
This is also how you’ll able to modify the poses.
Thanks stefman,
It’s a 2D point grid.
So it sounds like the MC that came with the rig is useless now if the poses are off-model, and my only solution is to adjust each position to get it to look right, and create a whole new MC based on those corrections?
Oof.
But thanks for the info!
Hey Stephen and Brian !
To edit a Master controller, you can use the Unroll wizard!
I fix my master controllers with it all the time.
Check out this documentation and let me know if you ned any advice!
(But read the doc first!)
Have a nice day everyone!

Great,
Indeed, the “Apply Poses” button is way more efficient than having to expose the poses manually.
Thanks a lot!
Always Happy to help!
