Harmony won't allow me to draw

Hi. I’m having this issue. I was previously working on Harmony 10 on windows but I updated to 12 on Mac. I can’t get to draw on harmony, not paint nor creating shapes. Nothing. Whenever I select any tool to do such task the cursor pointer becomes a ‘not allowed to do that’ pointer.

Don’t quite get what’s wrong but can’t create any object at all, however I can edit older files from Harmony 10 and edit them, and move them and everything. What cannot do is create new ones.

I’d like to remark I can add new layers and frames.

Any help?

Having the same issue. the first frame is selected but this does not solve the problem.

Yes, me too. But i tried everything and nothing.

I take a picture because printscreen dont show the cursor pointer

Doesn’t really show enough info. Let’s see the Timeline. Provide a screen capture rather than a photo of the screen.

Notice that the layer and the cell frame are selected. It seems that the program is locked for editing and only allows visualization

I have seen the cursor / circle slash symbol. Now I need to see a screen capture of what you have set up when you get this response. I cannot see enough detail in a photograph. Make sure to capture the entire screen, border to border.

Hi. It took me a while but I’m finally here with a screen capture video
https://youtu.be/uEnuGQZk7xk

I also realised when trying to import an image whether as a bitmap or as a vector it tells me

Unable to read Users/Library/Application Support/ToonBoomSessionTempDir/1719/elements/7.d/d-700.tvg

You made a video 1:59 seconds trying various things but from :15 to the end you had the Lock activated so everything after that made no difference.

Take care with what you click on. You would have recognized the obvious. When you clicked on the lock icon it went from gray to white (technically dark gray to light gray). When trying things do them systematically turn on one at a time testing then deactivating.

Unfortunately the slash/circle was appearing before you activated Lock.

When you made this video did you open a brand new file or an existing file? Does this happen with every project file you have ever created?

When I open a brand new project file I can draw immediately. I do not have to select a frame in the Timeline. It is automatically done by the software.

Something is not set up properly. By default you should be able to jump in and draw in a brand new project file. I would Return the license through License Wizard, uninstall then reinstall the software. If you still have this problem contact Support.

it was a brand new file for that video only. yes, the slashed circle was there immediately when i open it. i can still open files created on Harmony 10 and modify them, move objects and change color, but cannot create new ones.

I’m having the same problem, except I just installed ToonBoom. Never opened it, and from the start, wether it’s a new project or an opened one, it gives me that cursor. I selected the keyframe, selected the first drawing on the X-sheet, created a new empty drawing, but the brush and pencil tools are blocked. Help, please!

Contact Support and please come back and describe the solution they provide.

Any solution ?, have the same problem

Sounds like you are not clicking on a Keyframe in the Timeline first …and it has to be a visible layer.

Hi mates
i’ve Toon Boom Harmony 12.2.0 but i can’t draw on Camera Tab or Drawing Tab anything. When cursor comes on these tabs, it’s being prohibition sign and don’t let me drawing anything.

Hi,

I am migrating from flash to Toon Boon Harmony.

When installing the software, I am experiencing issues when attempting to draw on the stage. A prohibition symbol constantly displays when hovering over the stage.

I would appreciate if anyone has a solution to this problem.

Thank you
Tanveer

This has happened to me a number of times. I saved project, shut it down and reopened it. Was able to draw when reopened. I know its not really a fix, but it did work…
