Harmony Essentials help

I want to learn how to do animation like this; http://mrponiator.deviantart.com/art/Scrunch-off-386176473?q=gallery%3AMrPoniator&qo=1

I know how to build and rig a character, but I don’t know how to do a simple head turn. Any help will be fine.

Hey, I posted these tutorials I found in another topic, but here they are:

Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5rRK4V2CaM

Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emaK-koOwC4

Granted, the tutorials shown are Toon Boom Animate Pro, the same concept applies to Harmony. The other hiccup is that since (like me) you’re using Essentials, you have to adapt this concept to setting it up in the timeline, rather than the nodes. The good news is that I tried it out last night, and it’s totally do-able in Harmony Essentials.

Basically, I put all the loose parts on their own peg. I make a parent peg for the facial features (eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth). On the parts that need to disappear when they wrap around the head, I added a cutter effect to each individual drawing using the head shape as the mask (which I had to invert). I had the head peg parent the face peg, and the ear peg (created to animate separately, so not tied to the face peg). Voila! I can then grab the face peg, an move it side to side to animate the head! Not sure if that makes sense, but if you watch the video, and then read that, I think it should…

Knowing how to use the cutter effect to mask is crucial to making this work, so here is some info on that, as it pertains to Essentials:

Hope that helps!
