Grabbing An Object That's Been Matted

Hi, I’m really new to Toon Boom. I’m using a trial version of harmony premium.

I’m learning to rig a head and I came across a problem with the eye setup that I think requires a creative solution. Please see this diagram for what I’m talking about:

Basically, I have an eyelid being matted with a cutter coming from the eyeball. So you only see the eyelid where the eyeball exists. Problem is, when I use the animation transform tool to pull the eyelid up out of sight for a wide open eye, click off it, and then try to click back on it, the cursor can’t find it because it’s now outside of the cutted zone. I’m sure there’s some sort of standard solution for this but I’m not aware of it. Can anyone suggest a solution?

thanks in advance.

Hey Dave!

Selecting something that you can’t see can indeed be tricky!

One solution for this would be to create a selection handle for the eyelid of your character.

I’m inviting you to check out the following tutorial of our learning portal. There’s a lot of videos and materials regarding rigging, animation and compositing among other things. I think the following one could definitely help you out.

Let me know if you have more questions and I’d be happy to help you out.

That’s exactly what I’m looking for, thank you!!!

Happy to have helped!
