Here’s my completed animation of a romantic waltz set to the tune of Brian Wilson’s God Only Knows from The Beach Boys’ classic album, Pet Sounds. My goal for the piece was to emulate the animation aesthetics of Disney and the art of the post war era from artists like Mary Blair. I used as reference the waltz shared between Scarlett and Rhett during the Atlanta Bazaar scene from Gone With The Wind.

The second video below is a side-by-side comparison of the reference footage, clean up animation, and completed work. The reference footage pauses when the animation begins the transition from the last drawing of the current cycle to the first drawing of the next cycle. The footage plays again from the beginning when the animation starts looping.
