Frame interpolation Crisis

I am a very new user of Toon Boom Studio. And right now I need help with frame interpolation, as I am totally stuck.

;-(

I attempted to get frame interpolation to work on a very simple animation demo of a flying bird. The demo timeline consists of 5 timeline frames. The first 2 cells are the birds with the wings up. The next two cells are the bird with the wings down. The last cell is of the bird with the wings up again. (5 cells in all)

This is what I did:

  1. Added a parent peg to my timeline of the bird.
  2. Added a keyframe to positions 1, 3, and 5. (this created the grey line I was expecting between the keyframes.)
  3. Previewed the frames.

Result? No intermediate Studio-generated interpolation in Frames 3 and 4, as I expected. I am probably missing a crucial step, but do not know what it is. I tried switching to Camera View, and moving the bird with Transform tool, but nothing seems to work.

Can anyone help me out with this? Thx in advance!!!

ps I am documenting my attempt to get this to work here in my blog.
