Exporting from Final Cut Express

Hi all,

I cannot for the life of me export anything from FCE that looks even half as good as the files do after exporting from Animate.

I have multiple scenes from Animate that I am piecing together in FCE, but I cannot figure out any export setting that renders them nicely. Any ideas?

My animation is in 1920x1080p format but comes out scratchy, blurry, stretched. I’m at my wits end.

Presuming your Animate Project Settings are HDTV 1920 x 1080…?

Either export from Animate as Movie… “Apple Intermediate Codec”…
Or as Image Sequence… “PSD / PNG / or TGA”…

Import those Movie-files or Image Sequences into Final Cut Express…
Or assemble those Sequences with QuickTime Pro 7, or else, before importing…

In Final Cut Express choose Easy Setup: HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i50 or i60…
Depending if you’re creating for PAL or NTSC… Then import your rendered movies…

When ready, export as “QuickTime Movie” not “QuickTime Conversion”…
This will ensure the best quality export… e.g. for burning to DVD or BluRay…

Exporting for Web, or else, choose “Using QuickTime Conversion”…
Apply the appropriate resolution and compression regarding your delivery format…
