Drawing layers move when using the rigging tool

I’m super new to rigging and using the node view so please bear with me.

Basically the title explains it. When viewing my character in OpenGL view or render view, the drawing layers are stable but as soon as i click the rigging tool, the drawing layers shift around and most noticeably the hands detach from the arms.

I don’t have any key frames set and I have already tried Reset all under animation.

The arms show that it has two sets of manipulators and I think this may be the problem but I have no idea how to fix it/get rid of it.
