Double-clicking a symbol does not work

When i double-click a symbol icon in the library, nothing happens.

When i right-click and press “edit symbol”, i get what i want.

Any idea?

It would be useful if you stated what you expect and why.

I wondered if it had to do with Flash. Like me, not everyone has used Flash. I looked it up and see that you trigger editing a symbol in the library by double-clicking on the symbol icon.

Symbols are available in TB but they are not exactly like Flash symbols in every aspect. They are there for Flash users sake but there are better suited ways to do things in TB. That is, TB products are designed with traditional animation methods in mind.

You figured out a way to edit a symbol.

thanks for the reply.

"To edit a symbol from the Library view:

  1. In the Library view, select the symbol to edit.
  2. Right-click and select Edit > Edit Symbol. You can also double-click on the symbol.
You are now inside the symbol and you are able to edit it."

My expectation and the problem is stated here. I double-click to edit but nothing happens - contrary to selecting edit symbol.

Animate Pro 3

It appears to be an an oversight, bug or combination. As I recall there was at least one other change between versions 2 & 3 that was not removed from the documentation.

Double-clicking on the Timeline Drawing Layer cell doesn’t work and there is supposed to be an additional button in the Camera View’s extra button menu that is missing. These options are missing in both Animate 3 and Animate Pro 3.

Selecting the symbol in the Camera view window and using Cntrl/Command + E works.

i added the button to extra button and it works.
every other thing works.
except double-clicking from the library.
it is not an obstacle any more, but the curiosity about what that is… it exists.

OK I figured out how to add the missing button by customizing the menu bar.

The double-click on a symbol of a Timeline window cell, I don’t know why it wasn’t working for me before because it works for me now also. Maybe I confused the drawing layer with another when I threw together a test.
