Is it possible to disable the peg embeded in the read of animate pro?
To keep the read strictly for Drawing and morphing and use additional pegs for
peg animation?
similar to solo versions.

Using the transform tool you should now have in your Tool Properties window the option Peg Selection Mode. This will for the selection of the parent peg of the drawing from the camera view.

great, can I have peg selection mode set on by default in my preferences?
or have it assigned to be default for a saved character model/rig?

For the moment there is unfortunately no way to save the tool setup you have used on your project previously. You will need to set them every time you open your project for the moment.
