Crashes when started on second monitor

I am using the latest version of Toon Boom Harmony 20 on a fairly new Windows 10 machine. I am having trouble opening the program on my second (pentablet) monitor (XP-Pen Artist 15.6 pro). The program will open a project and it will say “Not Responding” on the tab. There are no issues when opening on my primary monitor. I have updated all my drivers and graphics card and reinstalled Toon Boom multiple times.

I saw a post with a similar issue dated 2 years ago but the solution was never posted. The post is in the link below.

This is quite odd for me because I never had any issues with my old laptop connected to the same pen tablet. I also didn’t have any issues when using it before on my current desktop. I took a break from animating for a bit and came back with these problems. I really want to get this issue fixed as I don’t want to give up using two monitors.

Thanks for your time and help!

Hey I have the same issue! You ever find a solution?

From what I’ve seen make you pen display the main monitor.
Also report the issue to support.

I just found a solution that DOESN’T involve switching your main monitor. You need to run Harmony and Storyboard Pro as Administrator. Right click on the application then click “Run as administrator”. It stopped crashing for me after that. I’m sure you can make a shortcut extension so you don’t have to do it every time.

Following up to my previous comment but I found the cause. It’s an Audio driver called Nahimic. I found this from reports from people complaining about other apps having the same problem. It comes bundled with MSI and ASUS motherboards. However, basically malware refusing to be removed. I had a specialist get rid of it for me and it took him 3 hours of him going through the registry. After that the issue is gone.
