Colouring Traditional animation

Hi

What is the best way to colour sections of traditionally animated characters with multiple colours for such things as stripes and spots. My example is of two rodents that who’s bellies I want to colour a lighter tone than the rest of their bodies. I have attached a picture of them with their bellies coloured and another without. I coloured them using invisible lines however I can’t draw invisible lines for every frame because they don’t register with onion skinning.

Your help is GREATLY appreciated.

Open the Preferences Panel / Drawing.
From “Onion Skin Render Style” choose either “Normal” or “Outline Only” from the drop-down / Click OK.

Thanks a bunch for your quick response Nolan. “Outline Only” worked but “Normal” did not. Is drawing with the stroke tool how most animators colour a 2 hue character or are there better methods?

Cheers

Well, I presume, the Stroke-Tool is an excellent choice for multi-colour-objects.

Applying a gradient, Linear or Radial might give interesting results…

Otherwise, you might look into the Highlight- and Tone-Module in combination
with the Apply-Peg Transformation Module.

If you like, here is an example in the Network-View:

Thanks Nolan. I should have mentioned I only am using Animate 3 not pro or harmony, so I don’t have the network view thing.
