Cells on same layer are always linked

well, im not sure how to explain this well, but for some reason, when Cells are in the same layer, they are linked, which means if i move symbol in Cell 35, then im actually moving another symbol on Cell 56 of that same layer. so in this case, the Cells are linked on the same layer.
Another problem with Cells involves copied cells. like if i were to draw in a Cell, then if i copy that cell and paste it, then try to make changes to that pasted cell, it actually affects the original copy, which means that the copied cells are linked. so to prevent this, i need to actually copy and paste the objects within the cell. but i want to copy and paste the cells as a whole, its more easier. so then whats the point of copying and pasting cells if the copies are all going to be linked? is there an option to stop Cells from being linked?

well, the paste special worked for pasted cells, but the other problem is that when Cells are in the same layer, they are linked, which means if i move a symbol in Cell 35, then im actually moving another symbol on Cell 56 of that same layer. so in this case, the Cells are linked on the same layer.i move the object, then all objects in that layer move at the same time. so you are saying that the methods you gave would fix this problem?

This is the default behaviour. It’s actually really useful when you think about it - this is what we call reusing the exposure.

There are a few ways around it. Either you can copy by selecting the drawing in the Camera/Drawing window and then pasting it into a new cell.

Or you can copy a cell, paste it in a new cell, then do a Duplicate Drawing (it’s in the right-click menu or there’s also a button for it on the timeline toolbar).

Or you can copy a cell, then do a Paste Special into a new cell, and in this case select “Always create drawings”.

Hope this helps.

I usually just do the duplicate drawing method.

Well it depends on how you’re moving the object. Are you moving it with the select tool? If you are, then that means that you’re moving the actual drawing inside the drawing layer, so yes, my previous answer would apply to that.

However if you’re moving with the Transform tool, then what you’re doing is a layer transformation. When you use the transform tool it takes the layer as a whole, all of the drawings inside it, and moves it. Now if you have the Animate button turned on it will create keyframes and you can keyframe the position of different drawings.

Have you had a chance to watch any of the tutorial videos?
