Better Method to Playtest Scenes?

I’ve been doing some freelance animation jobs and each project I end up managing 20 + scenes for each animation short. Perhaps im just spoiled by modern technology but its getting so stressful managing all these scenes (since im just one person not a team)and compiling them in after effects just for a simple pencil test for the overall animation.

Theres gotta be a better way to playtest your overall animation. Does anyone have a method they use to quickly string all their animate scenes together for lack of a scene manager currently? Maybe a another software?

I started off with Microsoft Project. That was a terrible way to live so I got Storyboard. Quickly discovered that it’s better but I had to go into Final Cut to put together animatics. I upgraded to Storybook Pro. It will export directly to QuickTime and to Animate.
