Animating vector strokes/morphing question

I am trying to bypass rigging deformers to do some simple animation just manipulating the control points of a drawing (like how you would animate a mask in After Effects)
It seems like this should be straightforward, but I’m not getting it. I can get an ok result morphing, but it renders without my brush texture. I’ve tried using the brush, pencil and pen tool - seems the same for them all.
It’ been a long time since I did this kind of thing in AE, but you were able to set a key for the control points, edit them for the next key frame, and get the interpolations in-between.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time digging around, so I would really appreciate some help  It sounds like TB didn’t used to have this feature, but I’d think they do now and I just don’t know what to search for. If someone can advise how to keep the texture when morphing, then I think that would work for what I want to do.

I’m on Harmony Advanced. Thanks!
