Adding panels without knocking sound out of sync?

I’ve been trying out the trial version of Toonboom Storyboard and I’m very impressed with it. It’s a really well thought out program. Exactly what I’ve always thought would be cool way to work.I just had these thoughts…It would be good if there was a way to add a new panels to a scene without adding time and knocking the following scenes out of sync to the soundtrack. I think that would be useful if the position of scenes could be locked/unlocked relative to the timeline.I felt it would be great to be able to tear off the thumbnail view in order to stay oriented while in timeline mode. Also, I find that 3D shows want thier panels numbered 1, 2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3,etc. so this might be a good option for future releases. Some bugs I’ve experienced with trial version:-sometimes in drawing layout mode, the layer tabs don’t always show up on the thumbnail images.-when I try to “save as” I get something like “cannot link to column:drawing_5” whenever I open it under the new name. And some of the thumbnail views show the generic toonboom icon instead of a drawing.-it would be nice not to have to reconfigure the tool bars everytime the program launches. Thanks,Paul Bouchard

Hi Paul,This functionality will be introduced in the next version of Storyboard where you will have the option of linking panels to your soundtrack to have the sound associated move in conjunction withthe image. You will also have the option of unlinking the two.In the drawing layout mode if the layer tabs don’t appear, you may need to pull their border up to make the thumnails taller. The layer tabs will re-appear once the image tabs have a minimum height needed to display the tabs. For the error message “cannot link to column:drawing_5”, does this drawing currently exist in your storyboard? Is there a drawing missing from your project? I could have a look at your project if youftp it to us at ftp.toonboom.com/incoming.Please zip the project folder before uploading it.What type of re-configuration was necessary for the toolbar thatdid not remain in place the next time Storyboard was opened?regards,-ron++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Ron Kriz ++ Toon Boom Technical Support Specialist ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I’d rather not send you the buggy file because it has a client’s dialogue track imported into it. I made up a couple more examples to send you though. Save as works ok for me until I try to attach a soundtrack. You were right about the layer tabs, thanks. As far as the tool bars go, I like the way you can drag them over to the right side of the window and I’d like them to stay that way when I reopen the file. This is NOT a huge deal though.Again, cool program.

Hi Paul,The original reason I wanted your project was to pin down the error message “cannot link to column:drawing_5”. What is itthat you want me to look at in the files you sent?-ron

I just tried out the newest version of Storyboard Pro and love it. The ability to link/unlink the sound to the panels works great. It’s a easy, clean solution to sync issues. I’ve created, closed and reopened a few sample project files with the trial version and everything is working great so far (fingers crossed)…and I just took the plunge and bought it.
